Area Agency on Aging
Coastline Elderly Services, Inc. Area Agency on Aging is one of 23 Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) across the Commonwealth and one of 655 nation-wide.
The Area Agency on Aging proactively carries out a wide range of functions related to advocacy, planning, coordination, inter-agency linkages, information sharing, brokering, monitoring and evaluation, which is designed to lead to the development or enhancement of a comprehensive and coordinated community-based system in, or serving, each community in the planning and service area.
The Older Americans Act intends that the Area Agency on Aging shall be the leader relative to all aging issues on behalf of all older persons in the planning and service area. These systems are designed to assist older persons in leading independent, meaningful and dignified lives in their own homes and communities as long as possible.
In carrying out the duties of the Older Americans Act, the area agency is responsible for the development of an Area Plan. The plan is based upon a uniform format for area plans within the State prepared in accordance with section 307(a)(1). An adequate proportion of funds, Title III-B, under the plan, must be allotted and expended for services associated with (A): Access services, such as transportation, outreach, information and assistance, and case management services. (B): In-home services, including supportive services for families of older individuals who are victims of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders with neurological and organic brain dysfunction; and (C); Legal assistance.
