Almost every family has a favorite recipe with a story of its own that draws rave reviews. From August 1st to September 1st, residents of Southeastern Massachusetts can enter the Craving Companionship™ Recipe Contest. Just email your recipe, the story behind what makes it special to you, and an optional photo (of your family or the food) to Sailynn Doyle, at email@example.com.
Coastline’s own Registered Dietician, Kim Ferreira will be one of the three judges, along with Suzanne Kokkins from Southcoast Hospitals Group, and Eric Esterling from Bristol Elder Services. The judging will take place in mid-September, and the first prize winner will receive $500 in free groceries. All of the recipes will also be submitted at the national level, for a chance to win another $500 in prize money.
This recipe contest is part of the Craving Companionship program which was launced to help seniors stay socially connected and eat more nutritiously. Sailynn Doyle, Franchise Owner, reports that “Home Instead Senior Care research shows that 59% of seniors who live alone say they eat more nutritiously when family and friends are around. They really enjoy having that connection with someone, whether it’s a family caregiver or a professional caregiver.”
